Howe's Rocket Did The Trick

A half time rocket from Eddie Howe did the trick to turn the game around at half time against Millwall at the weekend.

In the end, it was a convincing victory over Millwall at the weekend, but it has since been revealed that Eddie Howe gave his players a half time rocket to buck their ideas up.

Speaking after the match, Steve Cook was quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying: "We had a rollicking from the manager at half-time. It was the first time this season he had ripped into us and we deserved it. We were too deep at the back to start with and Martyn Waghorn gave us the runaround. The manager let us know in no uncertain terms and we knew we needed to respond and did. We were terrific in the second half. We moved the ball around and really took our chances. We need to keep more clean sheets and start making it a bit easier for ourselves. It was a game that had everything and, for the neutral, it must have been fantastic. But, from our point of view, it was disappointing to go 2-0 down. We showed great character to come back and won quite comfortably in the end. We need to work harder on our defending because the goals we conceded were too easy. We have to work really hard for our goals but, at the moment, we are giving the opposition cheap ones. As a defender, it is frustrating. It cost us against Blackburn but, fortunately, we were good enough to come back and win against Millwall. We can’t keep giving ourselves tough tasks though. We were outstanding after the first 15 to 20 minutes. We took the game to them and the crowd got right behind us, which was just what we needed. Ryan scored a fantastic goal and we always felt the third goal of the game would be important and so it proved. Ian Harte’s delivery is superb and he has been putting the ball on people’s heads all his career. It was a great corner and I was delighted to get on the end of it. That got us level and we kicked on from there".
