Howe: Victory was Cherry on top

Two goals from Brett Pitman, who took his tally for the season to 18, and strikes from Liam Feeney and Joel Ward inspired the Cherries as they convincingly beat a side who had lost just two of their last 19 league games of the campaign. Howe has earned great plaudits for steering Bournemouth to safety after their 17 point dedication at the start of the year and said: "We wanted to end the season with a performance and I told the lads I didn't want them to take their foot off the gas." The manager added: "They gave me everything I asked for and were clinical in front of goal which was pleasing. "I didn't think we played that well in the first half but we were 3-0 up at the break thanks to two superb strikes. At the same time I was delighted to see Joel Ward score his first senior goal and it gave us the perfect start."
