Howe: Signing shows strength

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe believes the new signing of Rhoys Wiggins emphasises how strong his Cherries side are as they prepare for the new season. The 22-year-old, who has made 30 appearances for the Cherries across two loan spells - signed a two-year deal at Dean Court on Wednesday after making his move from Championship club Norwich. Howe has been singing the praises of the defender who featured in the 3-3 draw with Derby on Wednesday night and said: "He was outstanding when he came here on loan, not just last season but the season before as well. It was a long pursuit because we rate him highly so we're very happy to have brought him to the club permanently. "Hopefully, he will be a really good signing for us. He's got the right attitude and mentality and he gets on with all the players. He fitted in well when he was here before and I think the lads viewed him as a permanent member of the squad, even though he was on loan." Wiggins takes the Cherries' transfer tally to seven players following the signings of Steve Lovell, Stephen Purches, Marc Pugh, Michael Symes, Harry Arter and Mitchell Nelson. Howe is preparing for life back in League One and feels his team is starting to look well-equipped to cope. He said: "It is very near completion and is a strong looking squad. "I don't think there is anyone who isn't good enough to play. It's competitive and probably the best squad we have had in a long time."
