Howe backing Cherries to respond
Goals in either half from Adebayo Akinfenwa and Ben Marshall made it back-to-back wins for Cobblers.
Howe said: "We recovered well from conceding the early goal and had several chances but their keeper has made some very good saves and I felt we weren't going to score.
"We could have done better with the two goals we conceded but apart from the goals we looked quite solid.
"At 1-0 down I still thought we could nick a goal but once they scored the second it was always going to be difficult to get something.
He added: "You're always going to lose games and it's all about how you react. It's the end of a good run but the players will be keen to put things right next week."
