Harry's Back!

08 September 2012 14:51
Just in case you've missed the news, Harry Redknapp is back at Dean Court.

It was revealed on Friday evening that Harry Redknapp has accepted an 'advisory' role at Dean Court while the Club gets over its' less than convincing start to the new season.

Redknapp, who first managed AFC Borunemouth between 1983 and 1992, took the Cherries to the second tier of English football for the first, and only, time in the Clubs history.

Eddie Mitchell is quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo on the appointment as saying: "I met Harry for a chat this morning and he offered to come in on a voluntary basis. He still has a passion for the club and for football and he’s got too much to offer for us to let him slip through our fingers. It’s been in my mind for quite some time to get him involved, and the timing seems to be perfect for us to tap into his knowledge. Paul and Shaun will still have the final say on all football matters, there’s no doubt about that. They’re very astute people and they’re not above listening to anyone, and I’m sure they can learn from him".

The man himself says that he's not after the managers position, being quoted as saying: "I have had my time managing Bournemouth. No disrespect to the club, it is not something I would ever want to do again. No disrespect but if I go back into management, it would only be in the Premier League now. I am not on the payroll and am not interested in that. I will help out if I can, when I can. I think they have done a great job there and the club is in great shape compared with where it was a few years back. Eddie Mitchell and the rest of the board need to take a lot of credit for what they have done there. They have both worked with him before and I think there’s only person who would be able to get on that coach tomorrow without Paul and Shaun rejecting the idea, and that one person is Harry".
