Bournemouth Borough Council have given the green light for a £600,000 development of the derelict pitches adjacent to Dean Court.

AFC Bournemouth have been given the green light to develop the derelict pitches which lie between the football and athletic stadiums in King Park.

The £600,000 project will enable the Football Club to bring the training facilities 'in-house' while providing a facility for local clubs to use as well.

Chairman Eddie Mitchell was delighted with the news, being quoted as saying that: "We have put together a talented squad of young players and we need to give them best facility possible so that they can reach their potential. The signings we have made over the last couple of months say a lot about our intentions, and so do the plans for the training pitches. It will help bring players to the club and keep them here, and it's what is needed for a club our size. Good facilities go a long way and are essential for the progress we want to make".
