Factors On Staying - Howe
Eddie Howe reveals some of the factors that influenced his decision to remain at Dean Court. With much going on over the past few days to send the Dean Court rumour mill in to over drive with the will he/won't he move speculation, manager Eddie Howe has spoken about some of the factors that kept him at Dean Court. Eddie Howe is quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying: "It certainly wasn’t an easy decision. Myself, Jason and our families have thought long and hard about it and it would be very difficult to leave the players and the fantastic supporters. I think we all wanted an end to it because it had dragged on long enough and we felt we had to make a decision. We have done a lot of thinking and have had sleepless nights. We knew there had to be a resolution and now we can concentrate on the football, which is all that matters. You have difficult decisions to make, decisions that affect not only your future, but the future of your staff and the players and you know they can’t be taken lightly. You can’t make snap decisions. As much as you would like to put everyone at ease and give them an answer, it is very difficult to come to that. But we knew the pressure was building and it had to give. We’re delighted to make this decision and feel it’s the right one. Eddie (Mitchell) and Neill (Blake) have been excellent with us. They have really allowed us to think at our own speed and time and haven’t forced us or pressured us into anything. It speaks volumes that they allowed us to do that". Eddie Howe went on to say on how close he came to departing: "I came close, I’m not going to lie and say I didn’t. But before you make a decision about your future, you have to know the facts and the details. “You can’t make a decision without knowing those things, otherwise you would be a fool to yourself and you wouldn’t be making a balanced and calculated decision. We found out the facts and details and came to a conclusion". For his part, Eddie Mitchell is quoted as saying: "It’s a good coup for us to keep him. We want to get on and achieve more. One day, Eddie will move on and I think, probably, he will outgrow the club. We’re all very, very happy about the decision he’s made. We’re pleased with the outcome and let’s get on with it now".
