Derby County Reaction - Cherries

23 November 2013 22:03
Here's the post match reaction from the Cherries after their 8th defeat of the season.

Manager Eddie Howe was quoted on BBC Radio Solentafter the match as saying: "I thought that we came up against a really good opponent and that Derby were probably the best team we have played this season. In saying that, we didn’t work their goalkeeper enough and that’s a fact. But we did have some chances to get a point, which we didn’t take. They made it difficult for us to control the game, which is what you want to do as the home side, and we couldn’t dominate possession and had to play on the counter attack. Ultimately, the game was decided by a well-worked goal with a great ball across the six yard box and we couldn’t defend it. They were better than us today and I think we have to hold our hands up and say that. I’m just sorry that we couldn’t give the fans more. When you have that kind of support you have to back it up with a performance and if not the result, then more goalmouth action because that’s what everyone comes to see. I can tell everybody that is what we are working towards. I said at the start of the season that our home form needs to be the bedrock of our season. We have struggled of late and we need to get back to winning ways as soon as we can and be at our consistent best to do that. We have a few players out and we haven’t had a settled side for a few weeks, but that’s no excuse. We’ve got to do better".
