Cummings: Cherries will learn from heavy defeat

PHILOSOPHICAL Warren Cummings emerged from the wreckage of Cherries heated Halloween hammering and reassured fans by insisting: Well learn from it.[LNB] Eddie Howes League Two leaders suffered a shock 4-0 defeat at the hands of high-flying Rochdale as the visitors ran riot at Dean Court yesterday.[LNB] A double from the excellent Chris OGrady and fine strikes from Chris Dagnall and Simon Whaley condemned Cherries to their heaviest loss of the campaign and only their second on home soil.[LNB] It was an outcome the clubs supporters have not been used to this season and was made worse due to the fact a bumper 6,378-strong crowd had turned out.[LNB] But experienced left-back Cummings revealed that no stone would be left unturned as he and his team-mates aim to recover quickly from the setback.[LNB] The important thing is not to over react, the 29-year-old told the Echo.[LNB] Weve got a good group and were always trying to learn, whether were winning matches or losing them.[LNB] We try to learn from everything we do and this is no different. Weve got to look at what we can do better and take it forward into the next game.[LNB] He also revealed that confidence remained high in the squad, with Cherries hanging on at the summit after Dagenham and Redbridge only managed a draw at home against Port Vale.[LNB] Were still top of the league and we can still take great confidence from the start weve had, stressed Cummings.[LNB] We never get carried away when we win and were not going to get carried away with a defeat.[LNB] Well continue to go to training, work hard and the important thing is to stick together and show a little bit of character.[LNB] The last time we got beaten was against Chesterfield and we followed that up with two wins, so that was a positive reaction and were looking to react like that again.[LNB] Cummings was one of the Cherries players who exchanged words with Dale defender Nathan Stanton after he received a red card in the closing stages for a late tackle on Marvin Bartley.[LNB] Discussing the incident, Cummings admitted: It was a bad tackle. From where I saw it, it looked high, just below Marvins knee.[LNB] Fortunately for him, his leg wasnt planted or he couldve been in serious trouble.[LNB] I dont really want to see players getting sent off, but for tackles like that perhaps you should be.[LNB] Cummings was also involved in a disagreement with the Rochdale management team in the second half, but he played down the incident, adding: It was nothing too major.[LNB]
