Connell grabs Cherries equaliser

20 February 2010 18:19
Connell drilled home from 12 yards after the Silkmen's keeper John Brain appeared to be impeded as he tried to claim Lee Bradbury's cross.[LNB]The goal denied Macclesfield their first win of 2010 and in the protests following the goal manager Keith Alexander was sent to the stands.[LNB]Bournemouth were certainly worth a point after dominating second half and Connell was guilty of spurning a couple of chances before his leveller.[LNB]Macclesfield came with a game plan to frustrate Bournemouth and it looked as though it would work to perfection when they took the lead against the run of play in the 61st minute when defender Nat Brown leapt to powerfully head home Lee Bell's free-kick.[LNB]Chances were few and far between in a drab and scrappy first half but Bournemouth should have taken the lead when Macclesfield's offside trap failed dismally at a free-kick to allow Jason Pearce to head the ball back across goal, only for Brett Pitman to volley over from 10 yards.[LNB][LNB]
