Cherries: Victory capped off new dad Garry's week

BEAMING new dad Ryan Garry shook off the effects of sleep depravation to spearhead Cherries' victory against Shrewsbury and then insisted the triumph had capped off a great week.[LNB] Garry's girlfriend Carla gave birth to the couple's son, Quincy, on Thursday, while Garry, alongside Jason Pearce, turned in another solid performance at Dean Court 48 hours later to help keep Cherries' promotion wheels in motion.[LNB] The 26-year-old defender, sporting two black eyes and a nose injury sustained during the 1-1 draw at Barnet, told the Echo: I'm really happy. I hurt my nose on Tuesday and only slept for about four hours because I had to come in and see Steve Hard (physio) the next morning.[LNB] I then had to do the food shopping because Carla was feeling really tired. So, I thought I would get an early night, but I couldn't sleep for some reason.[LNB] I did drop off, but she woke me up at about 3.15 in the morning. I did get about half a night's sleep on Friday, but I was up with the baby as well.[LNB] I think it was nerves because any little gurgle or noise woke me up, but I've got some family down now so hopefully I can get some sleep.[LNB] Garry is the latest member of Eddie Howe's squad to join the parenting ranks, with Mark Molesley and Jeff Goulding also having become fathers within the past two months.[LNB] Garry added: It's great. All the babies are here now because I was the last one waiting![LNB] Moles and Jeff have been giving me some advice, Sammy, |big Fletch and Steve Hard all have kids too and they've been great.[LNB] When asked if Quincy was likely to follow his father into the football world, Garry said: We'll have to wait and see! Whatever he wants to do in life, I'll support him and if he wants to be a footballer then great, although I think Carla would prefer it if he wasn't after seeing the state of my face over the past few days![LNB] With Terry Dunfield's 85th-minute own goal clinching the three points on Saturday, it has now been 554 minutes since a Cherries player other than Brett Pitman found the net.[LNB] Boss Eddie Howe also has fitness concerns over goalkeeper Shwan Jalal and key midfielder Anton Robinson ahead of Saturday's trip to Morecambe.[LNB] Garry added: Everyone wants to be scoring more and that is something we've been through as a team and individually.[LNB] But we got three points and that is the most important thing. Hopefully we can address the goalscoring issues in the future.[LNB] Hopefully Jal and Anton will be back soon so we can kick on, because they are two vital members of the team.[LNB]
