Cherries: Ugly win not a problem for Bradbury

LEE Bradbury marked his first game as Cherries manager with a famous triumph and then admitted victory at Plymouth had seen his side win ugly.[LNB] Bradbury, appointed permanently following a successful two-match stint as caretaker, opened his account with a 2-1 success at Home Park on Saturday.[LNB] He became only the fourth Cherries boss to oversee a win at the venue in 33 visits since the club joined the Football League in 1923. And goals from Marc Pugh and Steve Fletcher also ensured Bradbury's class of 2011 would become the first Cherries team to complete a league double over the Pilgrims.[LNB] The hosts, facing an uncertain future due to acute financial problems, were made to pay by Cherries after squandering a hatful of goalscoring chances.[LNB] Bradbury said: We rode our luck at times but I thought the lads dealt with it well. Plymouth were a threat all game and made it difficult for us. Sometimes you have to win ugly and it's the sign of a good team.[LNB] Although we want to play good football, you can't always do it. You have got to be able to mix it up and live with teams when they are fighting for their lives.[LNB] Plymouth are a bit fragile at the moment and we know only too well what it is like to be in their position. I hope they survive and pull out of it.[LNB] Shwan (Jalal) made a couple of good saves and they had a couple of chances. But we took ours and worked really hard to protect that. I thought the lads did really well.[LNB] Shwan has been great all season and has made important saves at important times. All the lads have done well and I thought every one of them was excellent.[LNB] Fletcher, appointed as Bradbury's assistant, came off the bench to net the decider five minutes from time following an assist from Danny Ings who went close to bagging his first career goal on a couple of occasions.[LNB] Bradbury added: Fletch is a great sub to be able to bring on and he caused them problems. He is a handful and a big lump![LNB] He comes on and poses a threat. I wanted him to do what Rory Fallon had been doing for them, with Danny Ings playing off him, and it seemed to work.[LNB] Danny has been brilliant. He hasn't been able to buy a goal but he works so hard and it is there for everyone to see what he does for the team. He will get his just rewards in the end and, once he gets one goal, he will go on to score lots.[LNB] Bradbury is today hoping to complete the signings of French defender Mathieu Baudry and striker Ben Williamson. The pair have both been on trial with Cherries and are set to sign deals until the end of the season. Baudry's arrival will, however, be dependent on him sorting out a contractual issue with French club Troyes.[LNB]
