BOSS Eddie Howe has added a sprinkling of youth and experience to his squad by swooping for former Cherries star Steve Purches and non-league pair Harry Arter and Mitchell Nelson.[LNB] The trio follow hot on the heels of the arrivals of Steve Lovell, Marc Pugh and Michael Symes, bringing to six Howe's squad additions for the forthcoming League One campaign.[LNB] Although news of Arter and Nelson's possible signings broke last month, Cherries were unable to officially announce the deals until after they had been cleared by the Football League.[LNB] Howe is also understood to have finalised terms with Purches in May, with his signing also needing to be ratified as the club is being monitored by the league until next summer.[LNB] Purches, who made 244 league appearances during seven years with Cherries between 2000 |and 2007, has agreed a two-year contract after leaving Leyton Orient.[LNB] Defender Nelson, who was also being tracked by Reading and Crystal Palace, joins from Ryman League outfit Tooting & Mitcham and has signed a three-year deal.[LNB] Cherries are understood to have agreed a compensation package with the non-league club which will see them visit Tooting & Mitcham for a pre-season friendly next month.[LNB] Midfielder Arter arrives from Conference South club Woking and has penned an initial two-year deal, with compensation likely to be determined by a tribunal.[LNB] Although Nelson and Arter, who are both 20, were out of contract, their respective clubs are entitled to compensation as they are under-24 and had been offered fresh terms.[LNB]
