Cherries: Tearful Pugh focused despite just 24 hours with new-born daughter
FAMILY man Marc Pugh vowed to focus on Cherries' Cumbrian quest despite the wrench of leaving his new-born daughter after just 24 hours together.[LNB] New father Pugh departed his Dorset home yesterday morning to link up with his team-mates ahead of the League One clash at Carlisle this afternoon.[LNB] He has had a whirlwind two days after wife Laura gave birth to Halle Louise in the early hours of Thursday morning at Royal Bournemouth Hospital.[LNB] The popular Lancastrian described the new arrival as the best thing that has ever happened to me.[LNB] Speaking to the Echo yesterday before Cherries flew to Newcastle, Pugh said: It was a very emotional time and we were absolutely delighted we had a little girl called Halle Louise Pugh. We were just thrilled to bits.[LNB] This morning, I knew I had a job to do at Carlisle.[LNB] I was in tears leaving her, when I was driving away in the car, but I can't describe the feelings the past couple days have brought.[LNB] The summer signing from Hereford United is vowing to be professional and divert his attention to Cherries' promotion push at Brunton Park (3pm).[LNB] A key player since his arrival on the south coast, Pugh is Cherries' top scorer with 11 league goals, while only Jason Pearce and Anton Robinson have made more starts than his 34 in the third tier.[LNB] He is keen to continue displaying his talents for the Dean Court outfit and is spurred on by the chance to provide a good life for his young family.[LNB] Pugh said: We need a big win against Carlisle so it is a massive game for us. I have got to put all of that to one side, although it is going to be very difficult.[LNB] I've got to be professional about it. My job is playing football for Bournemouth and I absolutely love it.[LNB] In the back of my mind, I will be thinking I definitely want to do this and want to do so well, especially because I have just had a little girl, and for my wife as well.[LNB] I want to give them a good life so it is really important for me to show everyone how good I am on the football field. Hopefully, I can help Bournemouth pick up a win at Carlisle.[LNB] It would be lovely to score for Laura and Halle, but the most important thing is winning.[LNB]
