Cherries: Taylor ready for big step up

LYLE Taylor insists he can cut it in League One after learning to grow up during his debut campaign.[LNB] The in-form striking prospect, buoyed by his pre-season goalscoring spree, believes he is ready to make his mark in the professional game.[LNB] Recruited from the non-league ranks by ex-boss Eddie Howe, Taylor was last summer given a two-year Seward Stadium deal.[LNB] Having been restricted to just three starts and 10 substitute appearances for Cherries, the former Concord Rangers frontman was sent out on loan to continue his footballing education.[LNB] However, he has taken the chance to give manager Lee Bradbury a glimpse of his potential by so far netting five goals during Cherries' warm-up campaign.[LNB] On the back of that morale-boosting sequence, Taylor reckons he is better prepared than ever to prove himself in the third tier.[LNB] When asked if he felt he did himself justice in his maiden season on the south coast, Taylor told the Daily Echo: Initially, I felt I did. Then I felt that I still had a lot to work on and that probably showed.[LNB] Now, I feel that I am more ready than I was last season.[LNB] I know what I have got to do, I know what it takes and I feel more ready than I was last season.[LNB] I think I can make the step up. With everything in life, you have to be a little bit lucky. It will take a little bit of luck, but I feel I am definitely good enough.[LNB] Asked what he had learned from his experiences last term, a candid Taylor said: You grow up you have to. The opportunity will present itself and if you don't take it or if you get knocked back, you have to deal with it maturely and you have to be able to get up and go again.[LNB] If you can't get up and go again, then there is no point because in football, you are going to get constant knockbacks.[LNB] Taylor will have to overcome tough competition for places if he is to claim an attacking spot, with Danny Ings, Steve Lovell and Michael Symes likely to be at the front of the queue.[LNB] Taylor added: I feel good and I feel sharper than I did last season.[LNB] It helps having a pre-season because, last year, I only had a week and then I injured my ankle against Tottenham and that didn't really do me any favours.[LNB] My targets for next season are just to get myself in the team and score some goals the same as ever.[LNB] Meanwhile, Cherries boss Bradbury yesterday confirmed that he had ended his interest in trialist right-back Peter Bore.[LNB]
