Cherries Smash Transfer Record

It's being reported that AFC Bournemouth have smashed their transfer record to secure their latest signing.

AFC Bournemouth have announced that they have signed 22-year-old Tokelo Rantie from Swedish side Malmo, for an undisclosed fee, but it believed to be way in excess of the reported £800,000 paid for Matt Tubbs back in January 2012.

The South African International has signed a 4-year deal, subject to international clearance being given and a work permit granted.

On securing Rantie's services, assistant manager, Jason Tindall is quoted on quoted on the Clubs Official Web Site as saying: "I imagine he will be unknown to people in England, but he is a very exciting prospect and a fantastic talent. He’s a full international as well and I’m sure he will have the fans on the edge of their seats. He’s very dynamic, skilful and intelligent, so we are delighted with the signing of Tokelo. He was recommended to us by our new head of player recruitment Dave Webb and we have done a lot of research on him since then. I’ve seen him a couple of times live and he’s a player who will improve the squad. I saw him play against Swansea and Malmo were beaten comfortably on the day, but he was the one player who caused them problems every time he got the ball. He was sought after across Europe and a number of teams enquired about him and put offers in to Malmo, so it is testament to the football club that we have managed to secure his services with the amount of competition that we had. It shows the direction we are going in, the ambition of the club and I think it sends out a statement to everybody as well".
