Cherries: Setback to Hollands' opening day quest

DANNY Hollands has suffered a setback in his quest to be fit for the start of the new season.[LNB] The midfielder, who is awaiting surgery to cure a double hernia, was hoping to be in contention for Cherries' League One opener at Charlton on August 7.[LNB] However, his chances have all but diminished due to a lack of available appointments.[LNB] Dr Ulrike Muschaweck, Hollands's preferred choice, would have been unable to see him until the start of August, ruling out the world-renowned German specialist.[LNB] As a result, he will now go under the knife in Manchester on Tuesday, the earliest vacancy the club could find in busy operating schedules.[LNB] And with a recovery period of around three weeks, it means Hollands is likely to be sidelined at least until the middle of next month. He can continue to play and train and is expected to feature against Derby at Dean Court tonight (7.45pm).[LNB] Tim Stephenson, who also requires hernia surgery, has been booked in for July 31 and will also be out for around three weeks.[LNB] Marc Pugh (groin) and Shaun Cooper (knee), who both sat out the 1-1 draw with Fulham as a precaution, are set to play some part against the Rams after responding well to treatment.[LNB] Michael Symes, who suffered a groin strain against Fulham, was last night due to undergo a scan and is expected to be out for at least three weeks, while Steve Fletcher is facing a fortnight out due to a small tear to his heel.[LNB] However, Danny Ings, who feared he may have suffered a recurrence of an abdominal problem against Fulham, returned to training yesterday.[LNB]
