Cherries: Scout Taylor quits over 'lack of ambition'

DES Taylor has questioned Cherries' ambition after resigning his post as the club's chief scout.[LNB] Taylor, who initially worked on a voluntary basis under former boss Eddie Howe, had been one of Lee Bradbury's closest confidantes.[LNB] He helped Bradbury and Steve Fletcher after they had been handed the management reins following the departure of Howe and Jason Tindall to Burnley in January.[LNB] Taylor had been responsible for carrying out match assessments on opponents together with scouting and recommending possible new recruits.[LNB] Under Howe, he played a leading role in the acquisitions of Marc Pugh and Michael Symes, while one of his most recent recommendations was Donal McDermott who starred during Cherries' promotion push last season.[LNB] Also, summer signing Steven Gregory from AFC Wimbledon was another player Taylor had tracked and appraised for the past two seasons.[LNB] Explaining his decision to the Daily Echo, Taylor said: I felt I had done everything I could to procure the right players for the club. But I became frustrated as it was apparent that the club's objectives were not as ambitious as I had hoped for, in as much as the policy was only to bring in players to replace the ones we had lost.[LNB] There were a number of players with great potential we could have made moves on, particularly from non-league. But the club seemed reluctant to take a chance on these players, whom I felt were reasonable long-term acquisitions. Therefore, I felt I had done everything I could.[LNB] I worked for the club for nothing for 18 months and was then fortunate to be offered a permanent contract when Lee Bradbury and Steve Fletcher took over. It was a huge privilege to work as closely as I did with Lee. My decision is no reflection on him because he is a man of integrity and honesty. With the right support, Lee will go on to manage a successful team.[LNB] I know Lee is disappointed with my decision but I have left for the right reasons and see my future elsewhere. I don't have any concrete plans at the moment and will see what the future holds.[LNB] Taylor, who first volunteered his services to Howe in March 2009, initially worked for the club at his own expense. Howe and Tindall are understood to have on occasion personally subsidised overnight accommodation for Taylor during his time working for them.[LNB]
