Cherries: Scorsese would love this latest script

LIFE at Dean Court is rarely straightforward. Nobody quite does a saga like AFC Bournemouth it's why life with the Cherries is so intriguing.[LNB] From the eventful administration process and ensuing points deductions to transfer embargoes and winding-up petitions, there is always something going on in sleepy Dorset.[LNB] If Martin Scorsese had a Kings Park retreat, he would surely have put the club's story on the silver screen long ago.[LNB] A potential Oscar-winning contender at times, there would certainly be plenty for a scriptwriter to sink their teeth into.[LNB] But like any nailbiting plot, there always needs to be a twist.[LNB] The latest tale to come out of the club Brett Pitman's prospective transfer to Blackpool offered little resemblance to many Cherries stories of the past. Everything appeared to be moving like clockwork.[LNB] The clubs agreed a fee, the talented striker travelled north to discuss terms and Seasiders boss Ian Holloway confirmed Pitman was undergoing a medical.[LNB] Everything looked on course but the deal is understood to have hit a snag and the Echo understands Pitman could have made his way to the Wirral to potentially play a part for Cherries at Tranmere Rovers.[LNB] Fans, players and staff alike seemed resigned to the club's prized asset heading for the exit, which may, of course, still happen. The lure of the Premier League cannot be underestimated and Pitman's switch to the top flight could yet come off.[LNB] But last night in true Cherries fashion the issue was a little cloudy.[LNB] Earlier in the day, Pitman looked all set to bring to an end his tumultuous Dean Court career.[LNB] Fans had said their farewells and offered advice via Internet message boards and it seemed like they had seen the last of the mercurial frontman, who has divided opinion through large periods of his spell on the south coast.[LNB] Unquestionably a gifted player, Pitman emerged from the club's youth ranks with an exceptional scoring record.[LNB] But as he went from hero to villain and back to hero, his status among the Cherries faithful went full circle.[LNB] Many always appreciated and recognised the rich potential he possesses, but some chose to criticise and even, at one stage, boo the talented forward.[LNB] But after he fired Cherries to League Two promotion glory, there could be little or no doubt as to his worth.[LNB] The fact a Premier League club had swooped for him summed up the huge transformation he enjoyed under boss Eddie Howe. For someone once dubbed an impact player, leaving him out of the team became unthinkable.[LNB] As his influence grew, the feelings of even his most vocal critics shifted in favour of the homegrown frontman.[LNB] Even the sceptics were unable to overlook such an impressive strike rate and string of exceptional goals. His skills, in League Two, were a rare and welcome commodity.[LNB] Signs that he could cut it in the third tier came in the form of a superb hat-trick in the 5-1 thumping of Peterborough United last weekend.[LNB] But what looked like a final flourish may yet just be a taste of things to come for the fans.[LNB] If Pitman leaves, it appears he will go with the blessing of most involved with the club. If he stays, Cherries will feel exceptionally lucky to keep hold of their leading man.[LNB] There seems to be a twist in most Cherries plots, so it would be folly to rule out either scenario.[LNB]
