Cherries: Robinson and Pearce agree contract extensions

MANAGER Eddie Howe last night expressed his delight after top stars Jason Pearce and Anton Robinson pledged their futures to Cherries.[LNB] Chairman Eddie Mitchell confirmed that the pair, key men in the club's promotion triumph last term, had agreed contract extensions at Dean Court.[LNB] Captain and inspirational |centre-half Pearce is now tied down for three years, with midfielder Robinson's services secured for the next two seasons, with an option of a further 12 months.[LNB] Cherries demonstrated their willingness to reward their major players when they handed extended deals to the likes of Liam Feeney, Marvin Bartley, Shwan Jalal and Ryan Garry last season.[LNB] And having signed six new players and persuaded Pearce and Robinson to commit themselves this summer, Howe's team appears to be taking shape ahead of the step up to League One in August.[LNB] Discussing the ambitious Robinson, Howe told the Echo: Since Anton has come in, I think he's been outstanding. He's been consistent, he's very reliable and he is a versatile player.[LNB] I can't speak highly enough of him as a player and a person he's very professional. Jason (Tindall, assistant manager) knew him from Weymouth so we knew what we were getting in terms of character.[LNB] I thought he was outstanding last season and, hopefully, he can continue to do that over the coming years.[LNB] I know Anton will have worked hard over the summer and, hopefully, he will come back even better.[LNB] Pearce, who joined the club after serving his apprenticeship at Portsmouth, has established himself as a firm fans' favourite.[LNB] Dubbed Terminator' for his tough-tackling style, the highly rated 22-year-old has already racked up more than 100 league appearances for Cherries.[LNB] Howe added: Jason has been a model of consistency and was excellent for us last season.[LNB] The added responsibility of captaincy has seen his game improve even more.[LNB] I think he's relished the role.[LNB] He's an important member of the dressing room and has that desire to improve and get better, like a lot of the lads do.[LNB] And he's a winner and he wants to win everything he does. That's why we're delighted to have him with us.[LNB]
