Cherries: Roach's charges set for Wimbledon test

BOSS Joe Roach has banned all talk of Bolton Wanderers as his Cherries charges bid to end the club's FA Youth Cup third-round hoodoo.[LNB] Roach's young guns tonight face non-league AFC Wimbledon with an enticing visit to the Reebok Stadium in store for the victors.[LNB] Cherries set up their trip to Kingsmeadow after sending runaway Youth Alliance leaders Bristol Rovers crashing at the first hurdle earlier this month.[LNB] However, under Roach, Cherries have failed to reach the third round in eight seasons, the club's last appearance coming in 2001 when they bowed out at Luton.[LNB] But despite the lure of a tie against Premier Academy League opposition in the next round, Roach has been ensuring his squad will not get ahead of themselves.[LNB] Cherries' head of youth told the Daily Echo: We've been treating the Wimbledon game just like any other and have been going about our jobs as we normally would.[LNB] In the past, perhaps I have been guilty of trying to be ultra-professional by making the build-up and preparation to our FA Youth Cup matches different.[LNB] Maybe that has gone against us because the lads have gone out and the games have almost passed them by in some respects.[LNB] We've banned all talk of Bolton and the next round and have just been concentrating on our next games. It was Hereford on Saturday and now it's Wimbledon.[LNB] Roach was among the crowd at Kingsmeadow when the Dons, currently sixth in the Ryman Youth League, saw off Sutton United to set up a date with Cherries.[LNB] He added: Although we know a bit about them, we have just got to prepare ourselves to go out and do what we can do and deal with any bits and pieces they may throw at us.[LNB] Cherries warmed up by recording a 3-2 victory over Youth Alliance rivals Hereford United on Saturday with Matt Kemble (two) and Jayden Stockley on target.[LNB] Roach has injury doubts concerning Danny Ings (groin), Tom Hill (groin), Tom Green (calf) and Murrey Holmes (ankle).[LNB] Cherries: (from) Thomas, Murphy, Annetts, Burbidge, Hester, Holmes, Kemble, Parsons, Strong, Bell, Green, Hill, Ings, Magookin, Oldring, Strugnell, Vokes, Stockley.[LNB]
