Cherries: Rhoys returning to parent club
RHOYS Wiggins is finally set to bid a fond farewell to Cherries with boss Eddie Howe resigned to losing the loan star due to the club's improving injury list.[LNB] The Norwich City defender is due to make his final appearance of a second emergency loan spell when Cherries visit League Two strugglers Grimsby Town tomorrow (3pm).[LNB] Wiggins, 22, has played 10 games and helped Cherries claim five wins and three draws since being drafted in to cover for an acute player shortage at the end of January.[LNB] He's done us proud, said Cherries boss Howe. I know he was fit and had played a few reserve games, but he came in from the cold and performing week in, week out in the league is a different test.[LNB] He came in at Crewe and it was as if he had never been away. That's the biggest compliment you can pay him. He settled in well and has produced consistently good performances.[LNB] Our injury situation is relatively good at the moment and we've got players returning. Unfortunately for us and Rhoys, that means he will have to go back after Grimsby.[LNB] Wiggins will be hoping to go out on a high as Cherries look to sustain their promotion challenge at Blundell Park. However, despite being six points adrift of safety, the Mariners ended a 25-match winless run when they trounced high-flying Shrewsbury 3-0 in Cleethorpes a fortnight ago.[LNB] Previewing the clash, Howe said: I know they are a different side to the one we played at home in October. They have brought in a few loan players and some experience, which is important given their position. From the reports we have had from a lot of their games, they probably haven't been getting the results they have deserved.[LNB] We will certainly not underestimate them. We know what it's like to be in that position from our experiences of last season. We turned over a lot of teams at the top so we know it can be done. We just want to try to make sure we get another good result.[LNB] There isn't a great deal of difference between the teams at the top and bottom in this division and the margins between victory and defeat are small. We need to start from where we left off against Notts County because we were excellent in the last 20 minutes.[LNB] We need to approach every game in the same manner, regardless of who we are playing. Mentally, the moment you start approaching games differently or preparing differently is when you come unstuck. It is going to be another extremely hard game.[LNB] Howe has no fresh injury concerns following Cherries' 2-2 draw at Notts County with Jason Pearce, Shaun Cooper, Mark Molesley and Scott Guyett all still sidelined.[LNB]
