Cherries: Pitman will win over new fans

AT the time, being booed by his own fans wouldn't have seemed like the ideal start to Brett Pitman's fledgling career.[LNB] But it may have provided him with the ideal grounding for the promising career that lies ahead of him.[LNB] Not that long ago, Pitman wasn't exactly some supporters' cup of tea. Indeed, even during last season's epic promotion campaign, some criticism was still put in his direction.[LNB] For some reason, often the unfair perception that he was disinterested, a minority of the Dean Court faithful failed to warm to their emerging star.[LNB] Considering the generosity and goodwill usually extended to the club's homegrown talents, it was certainly not easy to understand why some opted to dish out abuse, rather than support, to such a gifted player.[LNB] But after a season-and-a-half of non-stop goalscoring, he won over even his most fierce critics and probably yielded the benefits of not having been adored from the outset.[LNB] Despite the rocky start to his relationship with some of Cherries' followers, in recent days Pitman will have been left in no doubt as to how he will be remembered at the club where he learned his trade.[LNB] The comments on message boards and the Daily Echo's website have reflected his transformation from precocious talent to genuine star. Resoundingly and almost exclusively glowing in their praise, the fans realise that they have lost a key man.[LNB] Now Pitman's task is to impress a new set of supporters. On recent evidence, his performances will soon see to that.[LNB]
