Cherries: Partington desperate to hold down team place

Cherries prospect Joe Partington is vowing to knuckle down and push for a first team place as he looks to forget an injury-plagued campaign.[LNB] The youth international endured a tough time with injuries last term and was restricted to just four starts as Cherries secured promotion from League Two.[LNB] He will again face tough competition for a starting berth in his natural midfield role from the likes of Anton Robinson, Danny Hollands and Marvin Bartley, all of whom excelled during Cherries' run-in.[LNB] Partington, though, is hoping to show what he can do.[LNB] He told the Echo: Everyone comes back to pre-season with a clean slate and, if I can perform well in pre-season and show some consistency in my performances, then there's no reason why I can't be in the team.[LNB] Getting in the team has been my main target for the past couple of seasons and that will be no different for this season coming.[LNB] That will be the thing I'll be working most on.[LNB] Reflecting on last season, he added: I had a couple of injuries and, at the time, I maybe could have been in the team because there were quite a lot of injuries at the same time.[LNB]
