As the Cherries continue to adapt to life in the Championship, skipper Tommy Elphick vows that AFC Bournemouth are not going to sacrafice their playing style, despite recent disappointments.
Speaking in the Bournemouth Evening Echo, Elphick is quoted as saying: "We just have to keep working hard to get better. We are a passing team and there is a lot of pressure that comes with that. But we have the players who can deal with that and we need to keep working on it. Everyone has to stick together and keep pushing in the same direction. We have been brought back to reality a bit with our past few results. We were under no illusions that this was going to be one of the toughest leagues around and every game is massive. It is relentless and ruthless. But we are not going to become a direct team and start smashing it in behind. That is not our style. We are a football team and that is what has got us to where we are. I thought our overall game was good and we kept the ball really well. When we didn’t keep the ball, we got punished and their second goal came as a result of us throwing everything at them. Players like Ngog and Beckford have been around and have big reputations, as most of their players have. Prolific goalscorers can be the difference in this league but I thought we limited them to very few chances. Bolton came here low on confidence, sitting near the bottom of the table, and we tried to take advantage of that. I thought we started really well and, on another day, definitely would have come away with three points".
