Cherries: No more Posh dosh on the table

BOSS Lee Bradbury confirmed Peterborough had yet to submit a fresh offer for Jason Pearce despite Posh counterpart Darren Ferguson revealing he remained hopeful of signing the Cherries captain.[LNB] Bradbury yesterday told the Echo that the Championship newcomers had not come back in with a bid since seeing an offer, reported to be worth £500,000, rejected.[LNB] Cherries turned down the bid earlier this month when it was discovered that 50 per cent of any fee would have to go to Pearce's former club Portsmouth, as a sell-on clause was included in the deal that brought the defender to Dean Court in 2007.[LNB] However, Cherries could face a battle to keep Pearce after Posh manager Ferguson said he felt he still had a chance of landing all of his summer transfer targets.[LNB] In an interview with the Peterborough Evening Telegraph, Ferguson said: We've made good bids for several players who I believe will strengthen our squad.[LNB] It's disappointing that none of them have been accepted yet, but I believe we can still get all the players we want.[LNB] Discussing his targets, Ferguson added: Those four lads (Stephen Gleeson, Sam Baldock, Jason Pearce and Danny Green) would be good Championship players, but the ball is in their clubs' courts now so it's just a case of wait and see.[LNB] Barnsley also had an offer for Pearce rejected by Cherries, while Ipswich Town, Portsmouth, Burnley and Reading have all been linked with the centre-half.[LNB] Meanwhile, news on potential signings is expected this week as Cherries aim to enhance their squad ahead of the League One campaign.[LNB] Manager Bradbury says he has identified potential targets in every position, but signing a central midfielder and a central defender remain Cherries' priorities.[LNB]
