Cherries: No let-up

INFLUENTIAL star Steve Fletcher has dismissed the possibility of any complacency creeping in at Dean Court insisting Cherries will fight tooth and nail in every game. Eddie Howes side go in search of a third consecutive League Two victory when they host local rivals Aldershot this evening (7.45pm). Hopes have been lifted by the teams two opening wins against much-fancied pair Bury and Rotherham. But Fletcher, Cherries record appearance-maker, has seen it all before and refused to get over-confident after what has been an excellent start to the campaign. The veteran frontman told the Echo: Were doing well, but nobodys getting carried away. Its two wins and its carried on from where we left off last season, but every opposition poses a different problem and Aldershot will do that. Nobodys going to come to Dean Court and just lie down and I expect Aldershot to be as tough a game as any well play this season. If we can go out there and impose ourselves on them like we did against Rotherham, hopefully well get the right outcome. He added: There will be absolutely no let up. One Eddie and Jason wouldn’t allow it. And two I think weve got a very mature bunch of boys, even from the older pros down to the young pros, who know the job at hand and are very mature for their age. Well go out there and try to make sure that we dont relax and take our foot off the gas because we cant do that for one minute. Were not good enough to do that and I dont think anyone is in this division. Weve got to fight tooth and nail for every game. Were doing okay and its nice to be up the top end of the table rather than the bottom, but weve got to stay there. The hardest part when youre up there is trying to keep up there. Fletcher has fond memories of playing Aldershot at Dean Court, having scored his first goal after returning to Cherries in the 2-0 victory in March. We had a 2-0 victory, it was hard fought and they are a decent team, he recalled. They came up from the Conference and established themselves very well. They’re a good outfit and I think they’re going to be in among the top 10 teams this season.
