Cherries: New deal is on Marvin's mind

CONTRACT hopeful Marvin Bartley knows maintaining a high performance level could help him earn an extended stay at Dean Court.[LNB] The combative central midfielder has turned in a hat-trick of impressive displays since winning back his place earlier this month.[LNB] Bartley, whose opportunities this season have been restricted by injury and Cherries' good form, had started only two league games before earning a recall for the trip to Bradford.[LNB] And the 23-year-old followed up an excellent personal showing at Valley Parade with eye-catching contributions against both Macclesfield and Dagenham & Redbridge.[LNB] Bartley, whose current contract expires at the end of the season, told the Daily Echo: It's always in the back of your mind when you are coming towards the end of your contract.[LNB] Hopefully, if I can keep my place and keep performing on the pitch then something will be sorted sooner rather than later.[LNB] I would love to stay. We've got a good bunch of lads and Eddie and Jason are brilliant as well. Hopefully, it will take care of itself.[LNB] Bartley added: I've had to be patient because the boys have been doing so well.[LNB] I think I've done myself justice so, hopefully, I will stay in the team. You need to give 100 per cent in every game to keep the shirt.[LNB] Although Eddie tells us there is no pressure when we play, there is an element of pressure because we have got such a good squad and competition for places is fierce, especially in central midfield.[LNB]
