Cherries: Mostyn in fresh plea to Football League

09 December 2009 07:00
JEFF Mostyn has issued a fresh plea for the Football League to relax Cherries' ongoing transfer embargo.[LNB] The Dean Court vice-chairman last week met with league chiefs in Preston to discuss the club's progress under chairman Eddie Mitchell's stewardship.[LNB] But despite the club having now settled its debts to HM Revenue & Customs and an array of football creditors, Mostyn confirmed the embargo would remain in place due to the club's legacy debt.[LNB] Former chairman Mostyn, however, has asked the league to consider relaxing the embargo to enable boss Eddie Howe to bolster his resources with possible loan signings when the transfer window opens next month.[LNB] In a statement released exclusively to the Echo, Mostyn said: Having provided the league with a full business plan, budget and cash flow predictions last July, all present at the meeting could see from the current cash flow that the huge amount of legacy debt inherited from the previous owners had been drastically reduced.[LNB] The league has now acknowledged that we have paid our outstanding liabilities to both HMRC and football creditors.[LNB] We are, however, still embargoed in relation to the August 2008 agreement that carries the legacy debt.[LNB] As part of the agreement, the club has to submit monthly accounts to the Football League. What is frustrating to everyone is that it is the legacy debt, as everyone is aware, that is still causing the problem.[LNB] I have pleaded with the league, in light of the progress we have made, to put forward a case to the full board for a relaxation of the embargo at the very least to enable us to sign loan players in January. We will await the outcome of their deliberation.[LNB] Whatever the outcome, we will continue to meet with the league to ensure our voice is heard and that it remains aware of the progress we are making at the club.[LNB] We sincerely hope that it will be this regular face-to-face dialogue that will ultimately lead to the club's current transfer embargo being lifted.[LNB]
