Cherries' Mitchell: We won't waste Howe compensation

EDDIE Mitchell said he had no plans to throw money at sourcing a new manager after admitting the club's coffers would eventually be swelled by compensation for Eddie Howe.[LNB] Although Mitchell declined to reveal the sum involved, the Daily Echo understands it could have been in excess of £300,000 for both Howe and Jason Tindall.[LNB] It is believed Burnley could even have stumped up more than they were obliged to under the terms of Howe and Tindall's contracts, which both had two-and-a-half years to run.[LNB] Mitchell told the Echo: From people that have advised me and as far as manager's contracts go, we are happy with the level of compensation.[LNB] You are less able to predict the future, which leads me to believe that what we will receive is acceptable to the club. It is not as if we are going to get a huge windfall because it will come in stage payments.[LNB] Asked whether they club would be in a position to re-invest the funds into finding a new manager, Mitchell replied: We are in a position to spend on a new manager but are not in a position to waste money. While there might be a few proven managers out there, they are obviously in the position they are in because they have failed somewhere in their career. And we are not going to bid other clubs to take away their managers.[LNB]
