Cherries: Mitchell says Prem could come calling

CHAIRMAN Eddie Mitchell is convinced coveted Cherries management duo Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall could soon find themselves in demand from bigger clubs.[LNB] Mitchell expressed his great delight after Howe and Tindall yesterday rejected overtures from Barry Fry's Peterborough to discuss the vacant manager's post at London Road.[LNB] The Championship outfit's director of football was knocked back after making an official approach for the pair following Darren Ferguson's shock exit on Tuesday.[LNB] Mitchell has already publicly aired his concerns at the prospect of Cherries losing their emerging management team should they continue to flourish.[LNB] But the club's majority shareholder also believes Howe and Tindall could eventually become a target for higher level clubs if they bide their time at Dean Court.[LNB] Mitchell told the Daily Echo: My advice to them is that if they carry on working hard and continue to be successful, they will be of interest to clubs perhaps a little higher than Peterborough.[LNB] It could happen in a relatively short space of time because they are rapidly becoming recognised in the footballing world as potential Premier League managers.[LNB] We are all in this together and I'm glad to see they are sticking to their guns with us because I think it will show them good reward further down the line.[LNB] While you can jump from one ship to the other to try to get to the top, sometimes you are better off showing loyalty and determination to reach the top that way.[LNB] There was never any suggestion of us blocking the approach. I don't work like that. I want to see them progress and, if they do, the club would be rewarded because they are both big assets to us.[LNB] In my opinion, they will outgrow the club in time. We have got a contract with them but it's not for us to do their talking. They needed to make the decision themselves and I think they have made the right one.[LNB] I wanted to give them the opportunity to do what they thought was right. I would have been very sad to lose them so I am very pleased with the outcome.[LNB] Things have moved fast but I'm used to that. It didn't get as far as discussing figures. They turned it down because of their beliefs in what they are doing here.[LNB] As far as I'm concerned, the team and management staff are worth a great deal to us because they are bringing success on the field and we are heading in the right direction. The help they give us on the pitch is going to help us off the pitch as well.[LNB]
