Cherries chairman Eddie Mitchell is hoping to tie management duo Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall to Dean Court for an additional 12 months.[LNB] Mitchell has confirmed he has already held preliminary talks with the pair regarding improved contracts after they piloted Cherries to promotion.[LNB] Howe and Tindall were both rewarded with three-year deals last summer after they had masterminded Cherries' memorable Great Escape from relegation.[LNB] And having continued to work their magic by guiding Cherries into League One, Mitchell is keen to offer them 12-month extensions, keeping them under contract at least until 2013.[LNB] Mitchell told the Daily Echo: We are in talks to extend their contracts. I have asked them to consider signing for another 12 months but we have got to negotiate the terms. We are very keen to keep them.[LNB] I am not in the habit of moving people around if I don't have to and, if people are doing their best then I want to keep them.[LNB] All we want them to do is carry on the hard work they are putting in. If they perform and the club performs then they will be in a stronger bargaining position.[LNB] Asked whether his decision had anything to do with speculation linking Howe and Tindall with vacant posts at other clubs including Portsmouth Mitchell replied: It is based purely on my beliefs in them and is not to secure them against anybody else.[LNB] Meanwhile, Mitchell has confirmed the club is awaiting Football League approval before it can announce any new signings.[LNB] While the club is at liberty to discuss terms with potential new recruits, the league has the final say regarding registrations.[LNB] As a condition of the club keeping its place in the Football League when it came out of administration in August 2008, the board had to accept all transfer activity would be monitored for three seasons.[LNB] Mitchell told the Echo: We have spoken to and agreed terms with people we want to sign and it is now down to the Football League to sanction them. Until they do that, we can't go public with any names.[LNB] Non-league pair Harry Arter from Woking and Tooting & Mitcham's Mitchell Nelson are reported to be two of Cherries' possible signings, while the Daily Echo understands both Stephen Purches and Marc Pugh could be on Howe's wanted list.[LNB]
