Cherries: Mitchell insists there will be no player sales

CHAIRMAN Eddie Mitchell kept hold of his manager and then issued an emphatic pledge: The players are going nowhere either.[LNB] The Dean Court chief expressed his delight after boss Eddie Howe rejected moves to Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic to stay in Dorset.[LNB] As well as retaining the services of the 33-year-old, one of the other key battles facing Mitchell this month is to stave off potential interest in Cherries' leading lights.[LNB] The likes of top scorer Marc Pugh and midfielder Marvin Bartley have already been linked with switches to higher level clubs after playing important roles in Cherries' fine start to the League One season.[LNB] But speaking to the Daily Echo last night, Mitchell was adamant he wanted to avoid sales during the January transfer window.[LNB] He said: Nobody's going anywhere. You're quite welcome to print that. Nobody's going anywhere at this moment in time, not unless Eddie wants them to.[LNB] Asked if he had no intention of selling players in the transfer window, he said: Not one. I haven't anyway, Eddie might but I don't think so.[LNB] He's got a fantastic group of boys together and he should be proud of them and the way they are playing. I'm sure he is.[LNB] Asked if he was relieved that Howe had opted to stick with Cherries after an eventful few days, Mitchell added: I'm very pleased for myself and the fans.[LNB] Relieved I don't think anything fazes me so if Eddie had moved on, I would have had to get on with the job and I would have done it.[LNB] Having said that, I would have preferred the outcome we have got. I'm so pleased we've got it.[LNB]
