Cherries: Mitchell grateful as County offer to split fee

EDDIE Mitchell expressed his thanks after Notts County offered to split the fee from their forthcoming televised League Two clash against Cherries.[LNB] Cherries chairman Mitchell was aggrieved with the decision to screen the game at Meadow Lane in March just days after County had rejected an offer to face Eddie Howe's side in front of the cameras at Dean Court.[LNB] The club's home clash against County was due to be shown by Sky on December 21, but the match was postponed due to a frozen pitch two hours before kick-off.[LNB] Magpies then turned down the chance for the rearranged fixture to be screened on February 15, despite Cherries offering an even-money split of the broadcast revenue.[LNB] But following today's decision by Magpies to return the gesture and share the £40,000 in fees equally, Mitchell revealed his gratitude.[LNB] He told the Echo: It's very good of them. We offered it to them and they offered it back. It's great and I think that's how it should be.[LNB] It was well received and we are very appreciative. It's a great gesture.[LNB] County chief executive Gary Townsend said: Sky had indicated they would like to televise our rearranged away fixture at Bournemouth in February but the proposed date would have come 48 hours after a game with league leaders Rochdale, and this would not have been suitable for us.[LNB] Subsequently, Sky approached us to televise the home fixture, to which we have agreed.[LNB] Bournemouth had offered to split the facility fee on a 50-50 basis if we had been able to accommodate the date for the rearranged game in Bournemouth in February.[LNB] Therefore, we feel it fair and appropriate under the circumstances to offer them the same gesture.[LNB] Usually, the home team for a televised clash receives £30,000, with the away club netting £10,000. But both clubs will get £20,000 following County's decision.[LNB]
