Cherries' Mitchell: Eddie and I have clashed but I don't want a 'yes' man

EDDIE Mitchell revealed he and Eddie Howe had not always seen eye to eye but insisted they shared a great working relationship and a determination to succeed.[LNB] The Cherries chairman said that genuine, frank and honest talks between the pair had taken place over the past three days.[LNB] Mitchell, who has always stressed his 100 per cent support for Howe, is understood to have held lengthy discussions with the manager and his assistant Jason Tindall in a bid to convince the in-demand duo to stay at Dean Court.[LNB] Howe yesterday ended days of speculation by opting to reject offers from Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic in favour of remaining with Cherries.[LNB] Speaking candidly about his working relationship with Howe, Mitchell told the Echo: We're both grown men and I think we're both out of the same mould, to a degree.[LNB] I think, maybe, I'm a bit more rash than Eddie but I think we're both very determined to succeed.[LNB] If you've got two men like that working together then I think, at times, you are going to clash.[LNB] But life goes on and you repair clashes. We've not always seen eye to eye but it's nothing which has jeopardised our future.[LNB] We're both strong-minded people but there are certainly no ill feeling between us.[LNB] I don't want to be surrounded by yes' men and I never have been. He certainly isn't one.[LNB] Rumours suggested that Howe and Tindall had been offered improved deals to continue their successful spell with Cherries, but Mitchell was quick to play down the role of money in the decision-making process.[LNB] Mitchell said: We've reached an agreement with Eddie that is in favour of the club and that is for him to stay with us.[LNB] Regarding deals and other things, it wasn't a case of doing anything which would risk the club's future. Eddie's not really been a demanding manager to have working with us.[LNB] He's not in it for the money. He's in it because he enjoys what he does, he enjoys hard work and he enjoys the company of all the players that he's got.[LNB] Most of them, if not all of them, are his choice of players, and he's got their respect.[LNB] Mitchell added: I've worked with him for 18 months and we've worked on the basis of, pretty much, I leave him alone to do his job and he leaves me alone to do my job.[LNB] His demands on me have never been great and he's always listened to what we've had to say and he's always understood what we've had to say. That has enabled us to support him every time he has come to us.[LNB]
