CHERRIES chairman Eddie Mitchell has rubbished reports suggesting Eddie Howe was stopped from speaking to Peterborough.[LNB] Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony last night claimed Mitchell had blocked the club's bid to bring Howe to London Road.[LNB] MacAnthony told a press conference: I have seen that Eddie Howe rejected the chance to come here but the reality of the situation is that we approached the chairman and he was stopped from speaking to us.[LNB] However, Mitchell claims he had no communication whatsoever with any official from Peterborough, with the initial approach made to Cherries director of operations Neill Blake.[LNB] Mitchell then contacted Howe to break news of Peterborough's interest and asked his manager to sleep on the matter before giving him a decision on his future in the morning.[LNB] And once Howe had told Mitchell he wanted to stay put, Howe then contacted Posh director of football Barry Fry to thank him for the club's interest.[LNB]
