Cherries: Malone didn't even see wonder goal

SCOTT Malone marked the start of his Seward Stadium stay by netting a stunning goal and then admitted his performance had got a little sloppy.[LNB] Malone, signed on loan from Wolves at least until early January, opened the scoring for Cherries during their 2-1 win over Cardiff on Saturday.[LNB] The 20-year-old left-back despatched a rasping 25-yard ripsnorter past Bluebirds goalkeeper David Marshall with Malone later admitting he had not seen the net ripple.[LNB] Malone said: I didn't have too much time to think about it because a defender was closing me down. I hit it nicely and didn't even watch because I knew it was going in![LNB] I can't remember the last time I hit one like that. I scored for Burton against Southend at the end of last season but it wasn't as nice as that.[LNB] I didn't expect to start that well. I just wanted to ease myself into the game, get through it and push on next Saturday. But it was the complete opposite. I started well and then got a little bit sloppy. I haven't got into my rhythm yet.[LNB] I had a run-out against Wimborne and needed to have a good blow-out. I hadn't had any minutes on the pitch before that. It helped playing against Cardiff and I will be looking to push on next Saturday against Crystal Palace.[LNB] Malone added: We had a good week in training and the lads were on a high. It showed in the first half because we popped the ball about well and they couldn't deal with us.[LNB] We more than matched them in the first half and, although they came out stronger in the second, I thought we dealt with it.[LNB] You can't read anything into the result but there were a lot of good performances.[LNB] Steve Lovell bagged his fourth goal of pre-season to double Cherries' lead early in the second half before Andrew Taylor pulled one back for the visitors.[LNB] Cherries: Flahavan (Jalal, h-t), Purches (Bore, h-t), Cooper (Baudry, h-t), Barrett, Malone (Cummings, 65), Feeney (L Taylor, 85), Robinson, Arter, Pugh, Ings (Fletcher, 85), Symes (Lovell, 36).[LNB] Booked: Arter.[LNB] Bluebirds:[LNB] Attendance: 1,924 (including 586 away supporters).[LNB] Referee: Keith Stroud.[LNB]
