Cherries: Magpies chief has sympathy with supporters after postponement

NOTTS County chief executive Jim Rodwell expressed sympathy for Cherries' travelling support after today's FA Cup second round tie at Meadow Lane was postponed just an hour before kick-off.[LNB] Hundreds of supporters had made the long trip to Nottingham for the tie, with the host club confident the game would go ahead in spite of the freezing weather.[LNB] However, despite a pitch inspection in the morning, no decision was made to postpone the game until 2pm, with the match officials deeming the pitch unplayable.[LNB] Rodwell told Notts County's official website earlier this afternoon: I wasn't at the ground when the initial inspection took place this morning, but it's a shame that a decision could not have been made then to save some of the visiting supporters and staff the anguish of travelling so far only to find the game had been called off an hour before kick-off.[LNB] I feel for the fans who made the long trip north and for our fans who had been looking forward to this match.[LNB] But such is life with football at times and all we can do now is plan for the rearranged fixture, by which time we'll know who'll be waiting for the winner in the next round.[LNB] ¢ Did you make the trip to Meadow Lane today Should the game have been postponed earlier Have your say by posting a comment below.[LNB]
