Cherries: Lovell's making a comeback bid

STRIKER Steve Lovell could be ready to hand Cherries a timely boost after hitting the comeback trail yesterday.[LNB] Lovell, who has yet to feature for Lee Bradbury's men this season, trained for the first time since being struck down by a nagging thigh problem.[LNB] The 30-year-old is today again due to be put through his paces and could be in contention for Saturday's long-haul trip to League One rivals Carlisle.[LNB] Lovell, who enjoyed a fruitful warm-up campaign, endured an injury-ravaged first season back at Dean Court and was restricted by an ankle injury to just nine appearances.[LNB] However, he started to find his form towards the end of last season and his experience and presence would give Bradbury's young squad a welcome lift.[LNB] Speaking to the Daily Echo last night, Cherries assistant boss Steve Fletcher said: The subs and the boys that didn't feature against Stevenage trained today for a good 90 minutes.[LNB] Steve joined in and did about three-quarters of the session. We are hoping to get a full session into him tomorrow.[LNB] He has missed a couple of weeks so his fitness will not be up to scratch but, if he gets through Thursday, he will travel on Friday.[LNB] We have got to be careful with him though. We don't want him to keep breaking down and don't want to push him back too soon. I know we need our big players fit and he is one of them.[LNB] But he has got to be right. He will be honest with us and us with him. We will let him have the time he needs to recover.[LNB] Bradders and myself both know that there is nothing worse than to be forced back when you aren't right and being asked to play through injuries when you are not fully recovered can set you back two or three months.[LNB] Meanwhile, neighbours Southampton have given Cherries permission for loan striker Ryan Doble to line up in the second round of the League Cup against West Brom. The 20-year-old, however, would not be permitted to face Saints, should that eventuality arise in a later round.[LNB]
