JOE Partington is desperate to play a part in Cherries clashes against Yeovil and Torquay despite his Wales under-21s call up. The international match against Italy on Friday, September 4 is sandwiched between Cherries fixtures at home to the Glovers on Tuesday and away at Torquay the following Saturday. And 19-year-old Partington told the Daily Echo: It might be a case of bring your shinpads and get a game against Torquay. Hopefully Ill be involved against Yeovil and Torquay well see at the start of next week. Its important for me to try to put my face in the picture. After starring at centre-back in Cherries 7-0 demolition of Salisbury City in the Football Combination on Tuesday, Partington added: Luckily I can play most positions on the pitch, so wherever the manager wants me to play, I can do a job for him. For Wales under-21s for example, I have been playing more as an attacking midfielder. If Eddie Howe feels Im going to end up as a centre-back, I wont have any complaints. Partington, who enjoyed his first year as a professional last season, believes he is ready to play a bigger part this term. I had a bit of a run in the team and did quite well when I was needed, he said. Weve had a great start to the season and we hope to be pushing at the top of the league. Everybody is hoping for promotion. Not a lot of teams can come to Dean Court and beat us. Hopefully I can be a big part of that, get myself in the team and crack on from there. The youngster is proud about his Wales selection. He added: Most of the lads from the Welsh first team are still eligible for the under-21s players like Sam Vokes, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Collison. To be picked among Premiership players is a great honour.
