Cherries: Jalal injury concern for Howe

Cherries boss Eddie Howe is hoping to avoid a goalkeeping crisis with number one Shwan Jalal struggling with a groin injury ahead of this weekends trip to Torquay. The Cherries stopper was clearly not fully fit during the latter stages of last nights Johnstones Paint Trophy victory over Yeovil Town, with Scott Guyett called upon to take goal kicks. And with back-up stopper Ryan Pryce also unavailable this evening due to illness, Howe admitted his concern over the potential problem. Asked about Jalals fitness, Howe revealed: Hes got a sore groin and its worrying because Jals been in such great form for us. Hopefully it wont be too serious and hopefully hell be okay for Saturday. Jalal has been one of the star performers in Cherries fine start to the season and it would be a major blow if he was ruled out due to injury. Youth team keeper Dan Thomas was named among the substitutes against Yeovil, but Jalal completed the full 90 minutes. If the former Tottenham Hotspur trainee is unable to recover in time for the League Two clash at Torquay on Saturday, it is likely Cherries would be allowed to bring in another goalkeeper to deputise, despite their ongoing transfer embargo. Star defender Jason Pearce is also doubtful for the weekend after missing last night's match. Cherries are already without the likes of Steve Fletcher, Jeff Goulding, Danny Hollands and Shaun Cooper due to injury.
