Cherries: Howe won't rush young guns

Cherries boss Eddie Howe is vowing to tread carefully with his team of young strikers and insists they will be blooded only when the time is right.[LNB] Howe's options have been diminished significantly following the departures of ace marksmen Brett Pitman and Josh McQuoid, both in the space of three months.[LNB] Pitman's exploits spearheaded Cherries' promotion, while McQuoid's goals have helped Howe's charges take League One by storm this season.[LNB] Their respective exits coupled with the tightening of the club's transfer embargo have seen three unproven front men climb the Dean Court pecking order.[LNB] But while Lyle Taylor, Danny Ings and Jayden Stockley all show rich promise for the future, Howe knows the trio are far from the finished article.[LNB] We've been really pleased with the three of them, as we have with all the players, said Howe. Josh's departure will give someone an opportunity and we've got a few options.[LNB] It is possible that the younger players will be elevated quicker than we would have previously thought but we need to make sure they are ready rather than let circumstances dictate.[LNB] We work with the players every day in training and will make the decisions when we think the time is right.[LNB] As and when the players come through, people will need to be patient with them. The lads will need to be given time and support as they try to find their feet and score goals.[LNB] Taylor, 20, has made six appearances from the bench since joining Cherries from Ryman League outfit Concord Rangers at the start of the season.[LNB] Ings, who was rewarded with his first professional contract in the summer, was last week recalled from a fruitful loan spell with Dorchester where he had hit seven goals in 13 games to help revive the Magpies' fortunes. And Stockley has made one substitute appearance in the league and one start in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy since being fast-tracked to the first-team squad this season while continuing his studies at Brockenhurst College.[LNB] Howe added: They are all on the right track and are making good progress. We are pleased with how they are developing.[LNB] Danny did really well during his time with Dorchester but had a serious injury last season and didn't play a great deal so we need to be careful with him. We need to make sure we don't push him too early.[LNB] It was a huge step up for Lyle and he has adjusted well to the rigours of professional football and to training every day. We have been really pleased with him since he has come in from Concord Rangers.[LNB] Ings and Taylor could be named on the bench when Cherries return to League One action at Bristol Rovers on Saturday, while loan signing Nicholas Bignall will also be available after staying behind for the fruitless trip to Notts County as parent club Reading did not want him to become FA Cup tied.[LNB]
