Cherries: Howe wary of Walsall threat

12 November 2010 07:00
BOSS Eddie Howe is warning against the danger of complacency as Cherries attempt to continue their bright start against League One basement boys Walsall.[LNB] Tomorrow's visitors to Dean Court lie at the foot of the table after mustering 11 points from 15 outings, a record which leaves them five points from safety.[LNB] In contrast, Cherries have started life back in the third tier in promising fashion, an impressive home record helping them continue the momentum which carried them to an against-the-odds promotion last term.[LNB] Howe is determined to ensure Cherries carry on in the same vein and believes that if his team mirror their recent form, they have the ability to overcome any of their rivals in the division.[LNB] He said: You can find yourself coming unstuck if you take your foot off the gas or if you go into any game complacent. They are difficult games, they all are.[LNB] We found that last season. The games at home, everyone wants strong home form, everyone wants to win every game at home and sometimes teams come and make it very difficult for you and I'm sure Walsall will do that.[LNB] They've brought in some good players on loan recently and I know they have got a couple of injury problems, as we have.[LNB] But if we play like we did against Tranmere and like we have done in the past four or five games, I think we can beat anybody.[LNB] Howe is continuing to monitor the progress of the club's walking wounded, with Ryan Garry (knee), Shaun Cooper (calf), Marvin Bartley (groin), Michael Symes (shoulder) and Lyle Taylor (knee) all having suffered injuries in recent weeks.[LNB] The physio Steve Hard has been working very hard with the injured players and trying to get everybody fit, added Howe, speaking before training yesterday morning.[LNB] At this moment in time, we're not looking to bring in a centre-half but that may change because we still haven't had an opportunity to train (on grass this week due to waterlogged pitches) yet.[LNB] We've got quite a versatile squad and people who can play in different positions. I trust all the players in the squad to come in, if needed, and do a job.[LNB] Walsall: (from) Walker, Westlake, E Smith, McDonald, Lescott, Jones, Taundry, Richards, Gray, Macken, Dickinson, Lancashire, Marshall, Nicholls, Geddes, Grigg, Paterson, Brain.[LNB] Cherries: (from) Jalal, A Smith, Bartley, Pearce, Wiggins, Feeney, Robinson, Hollands, Pugh, Fletcher, McQuoid, Cummings, Arter, Bradbury, Purches, Stockley, Garry, Taylor, Cooper, Stewart.[LNB]
