Cherries: Howe disappointed after County comeback

BOSS Eddie Howe felt naivety had contributed to Cherries' downfall during their eventful 3-3 draw with Notts County.[LNB] Howe's men surrendered a two-goal lead in injury-time as the Magpies staged a remarkable comeback to snatch a share of the spoils at Dean Court.[LNB] Cherries seemed on course to chalk up a third successive League One victory after Josh McQuoid's double and an Anton Robinson goal had put them 3-0 up inside 28 minutes.[LNB] But after Ben Burgess had reduced the arrears in the first half, Craig Westcarr and Kevin Smith both netted in added time to secure an unlikely point for the visitors.[LNB] Howe said: We were bitterly disappointed not to have seen out the game. I thought we had done enough. At 3-0, you expect to win any game, as you do if you score three goals.[LNB] Unfortunately, we were a little naïve and a little inexperienced and made some poor decisions and they cost us.[LNB] I didn't think we played well, even in the first half. We scored three goals but I didn't think we had played fantastically. But when you are 3-0 up, you take it.[LNB] They got a goal back straight away to make it 3-1 and I think that put a little bit of doubt in our minds. But we were comfortable in the second half and there didn't seem to be any alarm bells. We were a bit ragged in the last 10 minutes though.[LNB] We should have seen it out. We had good chances to make it four and, if we had taken one of those, it would have been all over.[LNB] Howe added: When you are that close to winning, it feels like a defeat. The players care deeply and are disappointed, as you would expect. But there were a lot of positives to take so it's not all doom and gloom.[LNB] But, sometimes, you've got to be honest and tell it how it is and we've done that. But we will bounce back.[LNB] We drew a game at home which was disappointing because we wanted to win it. But it is not the end of the world and, in the bigger picture, we have had a good start to the season.[LNB] Goal hero McQuoid and striker Michael Symes are both doubtful for tomorrow's Football League Trophy first round clash against Torquay. McQuoid (groin) and Symes (shoulder) were both substituted during the second half against Notts County.[LNB]
