Cherries: Howe confirms approach to league for loanee

BOSS Eddie Howe was last night hoping for a quick decision from the Football League after confirming Cherries had sought permission to sign a loan player.[LNB] The Dean Court club are banned from making new signings due to their long-running transfer embargo, which was tightened almost a year ago.[LNB] But after seeing his wafer-thin squad cut to just 13 fit professionals by a lengthening injury list and suspension, Howe revealed that Cherries had approached the league in the hope of bringing in some much-needed cover.[LNB] Speaking to the Echo after training yesterday afternoon, he said: We've gone to the league asking for a player.[LNB] As usual, we have to give them detailed medical evidence of each injury and each player.[LNB] I think the doctor wrote that all up this morning (Wednesday) and we are in the process of faxing it all over to the league to hopefully get the permission to do it.[LNB] We need to get it done as soon as possible because Saturday will be upon us before we know it. We need to act quickly, which we have done, although the process takes a long time because of the nature of it and getting all the evidence together.[LNB] Howe, who admitted he had a potential loan player in mind although he declined to name him, saw his options take a battering following last weekend's defeat at Aldershot.[LNB] Experienced midfielder Sammy Igoe faces about three weeks on the sidelines after sustaining ankle ligament damage in the 2-1 loss.[LNB] Joe Partington is struggling with a back problem, an un-named first-team player has been ruled out of Cherries' next two matches, while long-term absentees Shaun Cooper and Mark Molesley remain unavailable.[LNB] And with left-back Warren Cummings set to serve a three-match ban following his red card against the Shots, Howe has been left with few options.[LNB] It is hoped that lengthy casualty list will persuade the league to grant Cherries permission to recruit a loan player ahead of the testing away trips to Crewe on Saturday and Rotherham on Tuesday.[LNB] Cherries' most recent plea to increase their squad numbers to 20 with the signing of Steve Lovell earlier this month was declined by the league.[LNB]
