Cherries: Harry's happy with early season form
MIDFIELD maestro Harry Arter is keen to keep pulling the strings for Cherries following his promising start to the new campaign.[LNB] Arter, who endured a frustrating debut season at Dean Court, has showed encouraging signs as Lee Bradbury's men have experienced fluctuating fortunes.[LNB] The 21-year-old was arguably Cherries' top performer during the opening day defeat at Charlton before a bout of food poisoning ruled him out of the League Cup clash with Dagenham & Redbridge.[LNB] He then came off the bench to bag his maiden goal for the club in the 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday and followed up with a second during the midweek defeat by Stevenage.[LNB] Arter, who is midway through a two-year contract, told the Daily Echo: I have been pleased with the way I have started. I felt I played well against Charlton, even if the result took the gloss off the performance.[LNB] Unfortunately, I had a bug against Dagenham and didn't feel fit enough to start against Sheffield Wednesday. But I came on to score my first goal for the club, which I was really pleased with, and scored again against Stevenage. Hopefully, I can carry on getting more minutes under my belt.[LNB] Signed by former boss Eddie Howe from non-league Woking, Arter was forced to play second fiddle to Danny Hollands and Anton Robinson for the majority of last season.[LNB] And although current boss Bradbury has made no secret of the fact he is hoping to bolster his midfield resources, Arter is desperate to ensure he will play alongside any new recruits and not make way for them.[LNB] He added: We have got three good central midfielders and it will be four when Joe Partington is fit. I am going to try to step up to the plate and play every week. I feel I have matured a lot, both as a player and a person, and, hopefully, my performances have shown that.[LNB] It was something of a honeymoon period for me last season. I came from the lower leagues and wasn't given as much time as I felt I had deserved. I would start a game and then be out of the team. But, fair play to the lads who were playing in front of me because they were really good players and moved on to so-called bigger clubs. I want to play this season and will be trying to make sure I do.[LNB] Arter, who made five appearances for Carlisle during a loan spell last season, will be hoping to feature when Cherries face the Cumbrians at Brunton Park today (3pm).[LNB] They have had a similar start to us, said Arter. They like to get the ball down and play and have some talented players. It should be a good spectacle.[LNB]
