Cherries: Garry keen to get back to the top

DEFENSIVE linchpin Ryan Garry says Cherries are desperate to revive their promotion ambitions in the wake of a rare week to forget.[LNB] Garry was one of few players to emerge with any credit as Eddie Howe's troops were condemned to defeat by League Two strugglers Grimsby six days ago.[LNB] And to compound their woe, the setback allowed rivals Rotherham to end Cherries' unbroken seven-month stay in the top three with a midweek win over Macclesfield.[LNB] Garry will be hoping to help Cherries make a swift return to the automatic promotion berths when they host play-off chasing Accrington Stanley tomorrow (3pm).[LNB] The 26-year-old said: When you take into consideration what's happened this season, we've done well. We've been in the automatic promotion places for the majority of the season and have now dropped out. We've got nine games left and we need to respond.[LNB] The best way we can go about things is by concentrating on getting our own house in order. We had been playing some good stuff before we went to Grimsby so have got to get back to the level of performance we know we are capable of.[LNB] With everything that has gone on, we have just got on with things and the spirit in the camp is excellent. Hopefully, we can have something to celebrate at the end of the season. But we've got to continue to work hard and can't let our standards drop between now and then.[LNB] Garry played his part when Cherries recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win at Accrington in October and knows Stanley boss John Coleman will have his charges well prepared. The visitors, however, head south without leading goalscorer Michael Symes, who is suspended.[LNB] It will be a hard game and they are a good team, said Garry. They showed that by going 2-0 up against Rochdale last week, even though they went on to lose to some late goals. It was a tough game at their place and Shwan (Jalal) made a great save at the end.[LNB] Michael Symes is a big player for them and is going to be missing but I'm sure they will have someone who is more than capable of coming in. We've got to make sure we are on our game and start well. It is a big game with a lot riding on it.[LNB] Garry also had words of praise for Marvin Bartley, his emergency central defensive partner in the absence of skipper Jason Pearce.[LNB] He said: Marv has come in from central midfield and done very well, especially when you consider the lack of games he has had in that position and also the quality of opposition he has played against. I think he could end up as a centre-half.[LNB] Cherries: (from) Jalal, Bradbury, Bartley, Garry, Feeney, Robinson, Hollands, Connell, Pitman, Fletcher, McQuoid, Igoe, Partington, Cummings, Thomas.[LNB] Stanley: (from) Dunbavin, Kempton, Edwards, Winnard, Lees, Proctor, Joyce, Grant, Ryan, Miles, Kee, Murphy, Flynn, Turner, McConville, Mullin, King, Bouzanis.[LNB]
