Cherries: Fletch wants goals from elsewhere

CLUB captain Steve Fletcher urged his Cherries team-mates to discover the scoring touch after admitting they needed more regular contributors to help ace marksman Brett Pitman.[LNB] The 37-year-old targetman spearheaded Cherries to a morale-boosting 2-1 win at Crewe Alexandra on Saturday, as Eddie Howe's men won without the need for a Pitman strike.[LNB] It was the first time in the league this season that Cherries had hit two or more goals in a game without Pitman getting on the scoresheet.[LNB] Fletcher said: We can't rely on Brett all season.[LNB] Even if he has a wondrous season and scores 25 or 30 goals, you can't just rely on that.[LNB] There has got to be some goals coming from other areas.[LNB] It doesn't matter what level you're playing at, if you're going to be successful and you want to go up, which we do and we want to be in the top few teams, we've got to have other people scoring than just Brett Pitman.[LNB] Saturday was nice because it happened for a change.[LNB] Boss Howe called for more of his players to contribute goals back in December. And now Fletcher is hoping he and his team-mates can share the burden, with Pitman having registered 14 of the team's 32 League Two goals this term.[LNB] He added: If you've got your midfield boys banging in a few and not just your main striker scoring, you've got half a chance.[LNB]
