Cherries: Fletch reveals his transfer wanted list

CHERRIES' management duo Lee Bradbury and Steve Fletcher have made a central defender and a central midfielder their priority signings.[LNB] The pair have been working closely with chief scout Des Taylor to identify prospective new recruits and have drawn up an extensive list of targets.[LNB] However, ongoing speculation surrounding members of the current squad is making the task testing says Fletcher, who has been holding the fort in the absence of the holidaying Bradbury.[LNB] Star midfielder Danny Hollands has already flown the nest to Charlton, while linchpin defender Jason Pearce is one of a number of players who has been linked with a move away from Dean Court.[LNB] Fletcher told the Daily Echo: The prospect of losing players would make it difficult for any managerial team but it is part and parcel of football.[LNB] It was something we experienced almost as soon as we had taken over in January and it brought to light how challenging the job can be at times.[LNB] We can't second guess what is going to happen in the future and can only deal with those situations should they arise. There is a bit of uncertainty but, hopefully, we won't lose anybody else.[LNB] As things stand at the moment, the two main areas we are targeting are central defence and central midfield. We have got two fit centre-halves in Jason Pearce and Shaun Cooper. Ryan Garry's injury situation is still not resolved and contract talks are close to a conclusion with Mathieu Baudry. Either way, we are going to need another centre-half.[LNB] We have got a few midfielders in the squad but are going to need a replacement for Danny Hollands. He could sit in front of the back four, break up play and was good in the air. We need someone with those capabilities to be added to the squad.[LNB] We have a comprehensive list of several key targets. But it is about getting the right ones and making the right decisions.[LNB] Although Fletcher understandably declined to reveal the identity of any of their new targets, he did confirm that former loan stars Adam Smith and Donal McDermott were among them. The pair, whose parent clubs are Tottenham and Manchester City, respectively, are likely to command either nominal transfer fees or compensation.[LNB] Meanwhile, chief scout Taylor is due to run the rule over a number of possible targets when he heads to Denmark for the European Under-21 Championship finals later this week. Taylor is planning to take in a number of group games during his nine-day stay.[LNB]
