Cherries: Feeney targets higher league placing

LIAM Feeney believes Eddie Howe's surprise packages have proved they can mix it with League One's big guns.[LNB] Feeney played a starring role over the holiday period as Cherries maintained their promotion push with wins against Swindon and Brentford.[LNB] The flying winger paved the way for Cherries' 3-1 victory over the Bees on Monday by bagging the first headed goal of his career.[LNB] Feeney also provided the assists for Marvin Bartley and Steve Fletcher to score against the Londoners and had a hand in both goals in the 2-1 triumph at Swindon.[LNB] Back-to-back wins saw Cherries climb into third place, with the Dorset outfit arguably the poor financial relation in a hotly-contested battle for promotion.[LNB] We think we should be a bit higher, said Feeney. If we hadn't dropped some silly points, we probably would be top. But we're not disappointed either.[LNB] We know we've done really well to stay up there and haven't been out of the play-off places for much of the season.[LNB] It's a bit similar to last season when we were up there all the time. Hopefully, we can try to continue that and see where it takes us.[LNB] Cherries, just a point shy of the second automatic promotion berth, are the only team in the top six not to have played in the second tier in the past 10 years.[LNB] Howe's men are also vying for honours alongside former Premier League clubs Southampton, Charlton and Sheffield Wednesday.[LNB] Feeney added: When we look at the league table, the big names don't really mean anything. We've got team spirit in abundance and great ability. We think we can give anyone in this league a game, as we've shown this season.[LNB] Big names are for other people to look at and we're not really bothered because we know that when we go on the pitch, it's 11 versus 11 and we can give anyone a game.[LNB]
